There are two types of owners - those who strictly give the dog only kibble or canned goods, and then also owners who share their goodies with the dog from time to time. If you belong to the second group and like to give your dog fruits or vegetables, you should know that some types are dangerous for them.

Many owners want to diversify their dog's diet with fruits and vegetables, which are undoubtedly rich in fiber, vitamins, carbohydrates and important minerals. Unfortunately, there are types of vegetables and fruits that in no way belong in the dog's diet .

Knowing the types of vegetables that your dog can eat is quite a chore. But try to remember a simple mnemonic that reads: green vegetables are the best ! Yes, green leafy salads, cucumber, broccoli, spinach, peas, cabbage or green pepper are among the delicacies that your dog can feast on without remorse. Of course, do not forget to prepare and cut the vegetables in such a way that they are easily digestible for dogs . You will then be rewarded not only with the sight of a satisfied pet, but also with the good feeling of having just consumed a portion of vitamins and important nutrients.

On the other hand, there are types of vegetables that should not appear in your dog's diet at any cost. generally forbidden vegetables include avocado, leek, eggplant, garlic, onion, raw potatoes, legumes or radish . Very controversial are tomatoes, which according to many do not belong in a dog's diet, but there are also opinions that a small amount of tomatoes will not harm a dog. But if you don't want to risk your dog's health, you'd better deny him tomatoes. You should also avoid dried vegetables, which are harder for a dog to digest. And last but not least, don't even give the dog the vegetables left on your plate. It may contain traces of spices from food or dressing, which is not suitable for a dog's digestion.

Fruit also plays an important role in a dog's diet. And so you can to your dog Feel free to offer blueberries, fresh pineapple, cranberries or strawberries . All the mentioned types of fruit stand out for their high content of vitamin C, which is just as important for dogs as it is for humans. On the contrary among the problematic fruits are raspberries , which, although they contain many beneficial substances, also contain xylitol. This white crystalline substance can be irritating and dangerous to dogs. This is also why it is stated that a four-legged pet should consume no more than two raspberries per day. Be careful with the amount of kiwi, which contains a high amount of fiber. A dog that is not used to kiwi could subsequently suffer from digestive problems.

Ideally prevent the dog from consuming grapes and raisins . Experts also do not recommend the consumption of stone fruits, as the seeds contain cyanide. So if you want to give your dog a cherry, always remove the stone first!

As already said, some types of vegetables and fruits will definitely not harm your dog. Still, you should keep in mind that vegetables and fruits are more by occasionally diversifying the menu and not raw materials that the dog should consume in large quantities. When choosing, also pay attention to the freshness of the selected vegetables and fruits. Therefore, you will not make a mistake by giving your dog only seasonal vegetables and fruits, ideally in organic quality.
