DOG CRATE. WHY NOT TO BE AFRAID OF IT AND HOW TO TEACH A DOG TO LIKE IT

For many dog owners, the crate is a symbol of abuse and breeders. Disagreeing and condemning opinions are expressed in a number of discussions. But the crate is just a tool. It is neither good nor bad. It just depends on how we as owners use it. In many cases, a crate or fabric kennel can serve as a great tool.

One thing is important to make clear at the outset: the crate should in no way serve as an instrument of punishment and the dog should not spend endless hours in it. It is not okay to close the dog in it after a ten-minute walk in the morning and let him out only in the evening after work . In such a case, it is worth thinking about why you actually have a dog and how you enrich each other.

NO CRATE BREEDING

From the crate, the dog can have its own safe place, where it goes to hide when it is tired or when the vacuum cleaner is running rampant in the apartment. You can also use it when feeding, especially when you give your dog, for example, raw bones. Last but not least, the crate can protect the apartment from sharp dog teeth, for example, when you need to run away and you don't trust your puppy, or when your furry friend is afraid of visiting. You can also use a handle or a crate on the go, and not only on the plane. Thanks to a familiar object, the dog calms down faster in a strange environment.

Before you buy a crate, think about the right size. The dog should have enough space to stand up, turn around and lie down comfortably. At home, place it in such a way that the dog is calm and has easy access to it. Teach the children that the dog is allowed to rest in the cage. It's simply his space.

THE CRATE IS A MAGICAL PLACE FULL OF REWARDS

Learning itself is not complicated at all. If you have a puppy, start as soon as possible. Let the dog sniff the crate and reward each approach and each step inwards. But don't push him into anything and give him time. You can also put in the crate favorite toys or treats . When the dog can walk inside without any problems, start teaching him to close the door. Phase your training into small steps again. Close the door, open it immediately and reward the dog. Gradually increase the time. But alternate the times when the doors are closed. At the same time, you can sometimes leave something good in the dog's crate so that he learns to return to it himself.
