FIVE SOCIALIZATION GAMES FOR PUPPIES

Five socialization games for puppies

Puppies are like sponges, especially in the first five months of life, when they absorb everything new, form their habits and their own personality. It is therefore good to devote as much time as possible to them during this period and teach them everything so that they grow up to be self-confident, socialized life partners with decent behavior. Try these five socialization games, thanks to which your puppy will smoothly fit into (not only) canine society.

1. MEETING PEOPLE

Since no one can resist the cuteness of a puppy, this training will be a breeze. Introduce the dog to as many people as possible . The more people he meets in his puppyhood, the less likely he will be afraid of them as an adult. Meet different age groups, people in uniform, children. Ask them to give the dog a treat. Almost no havan can resist that. But if this happens and the dog is reluctant to contact, definitely do not force him to do anything. Never give it to someone they are downright afraid of, you'll probably add to their fear. Instead, have the person throw toys or treats to the dog from a greater distance and let the puppy progress at its own pace.

2. SOCIALIZATION WHEEL

Ask two or more friends to join the game with you. Form a circle together and place the dog in the middle. The first person starts calling "Alic, come to me" in a welcoming and cheerful voice, if the puppy obeys, he gets a treat and praise . Then it's the next person's turn and they proceed in the same way as the first person. When the game is going well for the dog, you can enlarge the circle so that the dog has to cover a greater distance to you. Again, if your furry friend doesn't feel comfortable and doesn't want to go around strangers, don't force him and take it slow.

3. PLAYING WITH SOUNDS

Many puppies are afraid of unfamiliar sounds. There is nothing easier than introducing him to them. How to do it? Start with a hair dryer, for example. Stay away from the dog at first. leave the device on for a short while and immediately turn it off again . Assess the dog's reaction and proceed accordingly. Is the dog curious about where the sound is coming from or is it afraid? If he is afraid, reduce the noise intensity or move further away from him. Once he gets used to the sound, start moving closer to him. Eventually, he won't even pay attention to the sound.

There will definitely be times when an unknown noise comes unexpectedly and the dog is startled. It can be, for example, a thunderstorm or clapping. In these cases, try to bring him to other thoughts, and dispel the panic as quickly as possible.

4. COLLAR? NO PROBLEM!

Sometimes it happens to you that the dog will eat something it is not supposed to or go where it is not supposed to and you will have to quickly grab it by the collar. This game will serve to so that he had no problem with it, he did not avoid grabbing the collar or even reacted aggressively . Start playing with him and once in a while gently grab him by the collar and leash and call out "I got you" as part of the game. If the dog doesn't freak out, reward him with a treat and he continues playing. You can repeat this step several times and practice the collar game regularly.

5. WHAT'S YOURS IS MINE

Pick up a tug-of-war toy. Put one end in the dog's mouth and you hold the other. While doing so, praise him so he knows that there is nothing wrong with touching his toys . In this way, you will prevent possessive behavior, when the furry one would often aggressively defend his toys.
